Spacerglass is 3D-Weaving's brand of 3D fabrics. These are 100% E-glass woven 3D structures in which the vertical poles are integrally connected to two cover layers of glass. These glass fabrics can be impregnated with LSE polyester, LSE vinyl ester or epoxy resin. Due to the capillary action of the vertical poles, the 3D fabric rises to the preset thickness by itself. Spacerglass reduces the risk of delamination and gives an excellent weight-to-strength ratio. These 3D fabrics are available in thicknesses ranging from 1 to 15 mm.
Application
Spacerglass is specially developed for the composites industry where weight and stiffness are important. This product is particularly used for products that contain curves. Spacerglass is often used in special tank construction where a leak detection system needs to be built into the laminate. Here, an overpressure is applied on the hollow structure and possible changes can then be measured.
