Carbon balanced tapes

  • Equal weight in warp & weft

  • Available in 200 to 600 g/m²

  • Standard 2½ to 15 cm wide

  • High stiffness, tensile strength & compressive strength

  • Best suitable for epoxy resins

Carbon balanced tapes are tapes where there is as much carbon in the warp (0) as in the weft (90) direction. These balanced tapes usually have a plain weave. Carbon is characterised by providing high stiffness, tensile strength and compressive strength at low weight. In addition, carbon provides slight expansion when heated and is electrically conductive. Romar-Voss Composites' product range includes the carbon balanced tape TCB 220 as standard. This is a 220 g/m² plain weave fabric. Other versions are available on request.

Application

The best results with carbon balanced tapes are achieved when processed with an epoxy resin. Carbon balanced tapes are used for products where high stiffness and tensile strength need to be combined with compressive strength and low weight.
