In closed moulding techniques, the glass is impregnated by transporting the resin through it using a vacuum and/or overpressure. Glass systems often provide too much resistance, making it difficult or impossible for the resin to flow through them. Special glass injection systems have been developed that greatly improve the transport of resins during vacuum and/or overpressure.
Application
As the name suggests, glass injection systems are used in injection techniques. Each system has its own application. Romar-Voss Composites' product range includes the following glass injection systems:
Unifilo (continuous glass mat)
This system is specially designed for injection and cold/hot pressing. It is a 100% glass system where the glass strands are laid out continuously, which ensure good resin transport. Unifilo is available in various weights and designs and can be used in somewhat flexible to stiff moulds. This injection system is suitable for processing with polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resins. Standard version is Unifilo U816 (other types on request).Uniconform
Uniconform is specially designed for injection techniques. It is a binderless, 100% glass system with a high degree of formability and transparency. Available from 600 to 2400 g/m². Uniconform is suitable for processing with polyester and vinyl ester resins.Flowmat
This glass injection system is specially designed for injection. Flowmat is a highly deformable injection complex in which a flexible PP resin transport core (180 or 250 gsm) is coated on one or both sides with a glass mat using polyester stitching. The glass layers come in 300, 450 or 600 grams as standard (other types on request). Flowmat is suitable for processing with polyester and vinyl ester resins.
