Catalysts

Catalysts, also called hardeners in the industry, are needed to cure polyester and vinyl ester resins. If you need special catalysts, please contact us. We are happy to help you find the best solution for your project. Romar-Voss Composites offers the following catalysts in its standard range.

Peroxan ME-50 LX

  • Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide for general use

  • Solution in TXIB

  • Cures in combination with a cobalt accelerator for the curing of unsaturated polyester resins, gelcoats & topcoats

  • Provides foaming in vinyl ester resins

Peroxan ME-50 LA3 X

  • Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide

  • Dissolution in TXIB

  • For curing cobalt-pre-accelerated polyester resins and vinylester resins

  • Longer processing time in polyester compared to ME 50-LX (standard MEKP)

  • Standard hardener for vinyl ester resins (no foaming)

Peroxan ME-50 LU 2 X

  • Mixture of Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and Cumene hydroperoxide

  • Solution with plasticiser

  • Used in combination with cobalt pre-accelerated polyester resins

  • Low peak exotherm

  • Suitable for curing thick laminates and casting compounds

Peroxan A-40 L

  • Acetylacetone peroxide

  • Solution in diacetone alcohol

  • For curing cobalt-pre-accelerated polyester resins

  • Provides faster curing than ME-50 LX catalyst at equal processing time

Peroxan CU-40 M

  • Cumyl hydroperoxide

  • 44%, solution in promoter

  • For curing of cobalt-pre-accelerated vinyl ester resins

  • No gas formation after incorporation into vinyl ester resins

  • Low peak exotherm

  • Provides medium to fast curing for laminates up to 6 mm thick

Peroxan CU-80 L

  • Cumyl hydroperoxide

  • 80% solution in cumene

  • For curing unsaturated vinyl ester resins

  • Low peak exotherm

  • Provides long processing times in cobalt-pre-accelerated resins

Peroxan BP powder 50 W

  • Dibenzoyl peroxide

  • 50% powder in dicyclohexyl phthalate

  • For curing amine-pre-accelerated polyester resins

  • Dissolves quickly

  • Very fast curing

  • Works from 5°C
